New music hitting the inbox this a.m. is from UK singer, songwriter and artist Daley. Daley hails from Manchester – his sound is rooted within Soul, Pop and R&B, infused with Ambient / Experimental vibes. Over the last few years Daley has been building a reputation for himself around the UK, showcasing his trademark melodic vocal style, flair for songwriting and vocal arrangement, and is currently writing his debut album.
“Smoking Gun” contains some very clever extended metaphorical wordplay and the chorus that ties it all together is infectious. Whereas musically the soundscape is unapologetic in its 2011ness, the song structure and melody are quite traditional. That melding of the now and the classic is something that we are big fans of here at GFM and as I’ve stated before on this very blog it’s not necessarily an easy thing to do successfully.

Ivan Orr is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and writer. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia Ivan was involved with the forming and nascent days of The Music Resource Center as its first Program Director. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Music, Ivan currently resides in Richmond, VA where he maintains an active performance and production schedule while serving as the Music Editor for Grown Folks Music, a position he has held since 2010.
