Artist of the Month (Song of the Day)- “It’s The Falling In Love”

Saturday, June 11th, 2011

Written by David Foster and Carole Bayer Sager this mid-tempo track pairs Michael with none other than Patti Austin. Sultry word interplay coupled with a big brassy arrangement makes this track an always sure fire listen but the underlying heat of the rhythm arrangement can cause one to move as well.

“Cover Me” Sundays-Moody’s Mood For Love

Sunday, October 3rd, 2010

This song started as James Moody’s alto saxophone solo on the standard “I’m In The Mood For Love”. As Moody recalls the story he was leaving the bathroom and the take was beginning and because he had been playing tenor on most of the session he had to adjust and find the key on alto so the first few notes or the “there I go…” is actually his attempt to find the key. We Want The Dude Back Vol.1/An Open Letter to Quincy Jones

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

This is a celebration of the music of the Quincy Jones we know and love. Special shout out to Craig G. for blessing us with some heat and insight over top of a Quincy classic. DJ Phaze is on the mix and we hope you enjoy. You can download the mix by pressing the arrow button on the right side of the player.

The reason why we are doing this is because we hold the music of Quincy Jones in such a high regard. For more info on the upcoming project and a listing of the artists that will be featured go here. Also, after the jump take a listen to a clip of the updated version of “Secret Garden”. Some secrets you should keep to yourself.

Patti Austin on “We Are The World 25″ for Haiti

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

The great Patti Austin was brought in to help school and regulate the ‘youngsters’ on the ‘We Are The World – Haiti’ remake. While I’m a little skeptical of some of the artists chosen and the potential outcome, I’ve gotta believe Lionel, Quincy and Patti will not put out anything less than a high quality product. Personal feelings aside, it’s for a great cause, so go out and support them anyway!
