From the release
There is a misconception when one is lost in themselves because society can miss the truth behind it. This video is a pure introduction to Jesse Boykins III’s soul and takes a piece of his mind and displays it for the world be a part of. There is the reality of being alone, but also the desire to lust for something that inspires and assists the creation of beauty, a Zoner.

Review: Jesse Boykins III: Way Of A Wayfarer EP

Friday, July 15th, 2011

Jessie Boykins III is a self-described “musical explorer”. Perhaps that’s why Way of a Wayfarer is hard to define, label or put into box. One thing is definite; it is different than what’s on the radio right now and listeners will dig it or… not.

For reference sake, if the music on this EP could be defined, then most of the tracks have a new age, vibe to them. He experiments with sound effects and irregular beats. One can only imagine the fun Boykins had creating this–throwing everything he could think of into the production pot and seeing what came out. “I Can’t Stay” has a pulsating beat mixed with a whole lot of other sounds, including the sound of an airplane taking off. The addition of a little more bass on a remix could make it a great dance or house music track. On “Light to Dark” the beat scatters and there is a continuous note running throughout the song that listeners will find either distracting or innovative and cool.

However, he does he flip the script on a few tracks. He strips down the effects in the music and goes acoustic on “When Your Ready” and “Zoner” .

How Way of a Wayfarer is received or interpreted depends on who the listener is. But there is nothing generic here. Jesse Boykins III won’t get accused of blending in with all the rest. He drives in his own lane and it’s refreshing to see an artist who isn’t afraid to be… artistic.

Jesse Boykins III Presents ‘Prototype 3010′, a short film

Friday, March 18th, 2011

After the success of his cover of Andre 3000′s infamous ‘Prototype‘, Jesse has released a pretty amazing video to go along with it:

In a time where life is often guided by misconception and tainted love its hard to truly find someone who is there for you for all the right reasons. No matter how you deliver your heart to a person, you still have to wait for them to open it up. I came up with this concept to inspire honesty. I’ve learned through life, communication is everything when you’re in a relationship. Take these visuals as an example of how something could be if there is no truth between two parties. She/He is your prototype and could be so much more if you allow it. Never Take The Love Of Your Believer For Granted. Much Thanks to Andre 3000

In addition to music, I adore fashion! and here’s a conspicuously modish example of young men representing DAPPER to the fullest. Take a look at http://streetetiquette.com/ and their introduction to The Black Ivy.

p.s.  If you look close you’ll also see a familiar “Prototype” in the vimeo.

The Performer

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

You may have recently heard another revamp of Mr. 3 Stacks aka Andre 3000’s song Prototype and wondered “who goes there, again?”
Well, in addition to Raheem Devaugh and Jazmine Sullivan, Jesse Boykins III has joined the likes of his r&b counterparts and revisited the song [Prototype] with his own eclectic flavor and finesse.

Featuring Melo-X and Trae Harris, the ballad is, in my opinion, definitely a match for his sound. This new soul artist has a style that is very unique in his own right however, I can hear and see a little Dwele, mixed with some Devaughn and topped with a sprinkle of Bilal (remember, this is my opinion). Yet, his style and lyrical ability is still individualized and (shrugs shoulders) good.

Check out the trailer/sneak peak to his up and coming documentary series, shot by Slick Jackson, entitled “Spot Dates”.

And if you haven’t heard “Prototype”, check that out too.
