Grammy Nominated: Raphael Saadiq

Thursday, February 9th, 2012

Raphael Saadiq is a music veteran. He started playing the bass guitar at the age of six. When he was barely 18, he auditioned and won a spot in Sheila E.’s backing band for Prince’s Parade tour. Raphael Saadiq is probably best known as one-third of the R&B group Tony!Toni!Tone!, which put out some bonafide jams in the ’90s like “Feels Good” and Anniversary”. Saadiq put out his first solo album in 2002 and since then he has been no stranger to Grammy nominations. This year’s nomination for Best Traditional R&B performance for the song “Good Man”, from the album Stone Rollin makes a total of 12 nominations of Raphael Saadiq. He has won one. To see if Raphael Saadiq will win this year, check out the Grammy Awards on February 12 at 8/7c on CBS.

Grammy Nominated: Ledisi

Wednesday, February 8th, 2012

Ledisi is nominated for an outstanding three Grammys this year; Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song for the single “Pieces Of Me”, and Best R&B Album for the album Pieces Of Me.

And to think that at one time she seriously considered leaving the music industry because she was unsure of where she fit in.

It’s a good thing she didn’t leave because in 2007 she joined the Verve music label and released her third album Lost & Found. The album earned Ledisi her first two Grammy nominations and she’s been getting the Grammy nod ever since. Ledisi’s 2009 album Turn Me Loose earned her two more Grammy nominations. So, combined with this year’s nominations, Ledisi has a total of seven Grammy nominations under her belt.

Look at what happens when you just hang on and “do you”. To find out if Ledisi wins, tune in to the Grammy Awards on February 12 at 8/7c on CBS.

Official Video: Winston Warrior: “Keep Movin”

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

From the release:

“Keep Movin’”, the official music video, directed by Alex Magaña, is the upbeat anthem off of Winston Warrior’s critically acclaimed debut album, Lifeology 101 is Winston’s testament and theme song.

Many obstacles have shaped Winston Warrior’s story, from losing his grips on a major record label contract to losing his confidence in the music industry and himself. However, yesterday’s hurdles prepared Winston for today’s triumphs. Presently, Winston Warrior celebrates a Billboard charting song for his popular lead single “Bad 4 U”; four nominations for Soul Tracks 2011 Reader’s Choice Awards; a feature performance at V-103′s 20th Anniversary For Sister’s Only Expo; multiple entries on the 2011 Grammy Awards ballot; “Bad 4 U” radio play in more than 20 cities as well as video rotation on VH1 Soul, Centric and Music Choice.

For the official “Keep Movin’” music video, Winston Warrior reflects on his journey to date. With the Los Angeles beachfront as his backdrop, Winston Warrior recalls his story, from how he overcame his fears and insecurities to finding his voice again and being proud of the progress he’s made thus far. Flashback with Winston Warrior in the official “Keep Movin’” music video to see the Phoenix reborn and in flight.

“Keep Movin’” the second single from Winston Warrior’s critically acclaimed debut album Lifeology 101, is now available on AMAZON, iTUNES and CD BABY.COM

[New Video] Rhonda Thomas & Avery Sunshine in “Just Us”

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

Rhonda Thomas & Avery Sunshine

I had the great pleasure of seeing Rhonda Thomas and Avery Sunshine show out at The Quad  back in February 2011 when I first heard them sing this song, “Just Us”.  If the tune sounds a bit familiar, it’s originally the disco cut from the men lovin’ duo, The Weather Girls. Soooooo, sit back, relax, enjoy this video and purchase this cut at www.rhondasings.com for your “housecleaning” playlist. LOL!
